About Beacon

Beacon is a collection of online teaching resources that supports delivery of the Computing Curriculum. Your Computing Curriculum Toolkit offers clear, practical solutions to make computing accessible for teachers and students alike.

Lots of teachers lack the confidence to navigate the murky waters of computing - a subject that can seem tricky to understand and even trickier to teach. Beacon supports progression through at Key Stages 1 and 2 using a variety of approaches to pedagogy, including many unplugged activities that don't require a computer.

We are curators and creators - we've combined the knowledge of some of the smartest people in the industry with the ideas and creativity of experienced practising teachers to bring you a series of lesson plans, activities and assessments that are easy to understand and straightforward to teach.

We've also waded through thousands of teaching resources on the web to find the best ones, giving them the BCS, Chartered Institute for IT stamp of approval and housing them all in one place.

So let Beacon light your way through the tricky waters of the computing curriculum, giving you the confidence and the practical resources to set your students on a lifelong journey of discovery.
